We contribute to customer sustainability by providing technical knowledge and rental capabilities.

Used equipment sales business

ORIX Rentec provides rental services for high-tech equipment and has a product lineup with 40,000 types and 2.8 million units (as of March 31, 2023). We do thorough quality control, such as performing the same operation checks and precision checks as for rental products, to maintain the second-hand goods we sell resulting from expiration or cancellation of rental contracts. In addition to selling these products directly to corporate and individual customers at reasonable prices through our website, we also hold regular auctions and sell to second-hand sales companies. We also provide asset purchase services for ICT equipment, including PCs and servers owned by customers. Purchased equipment that can be reused is resold to second-hand dealers. For equipment that is difficult to resell, we outsource processing to ORIX Eco Services, a Group company that recycles or properly disposes of said equipment.

3D printer business

3D printers are being increasingly used in a variety of manufacturing settings. 3D printing shortens the development time of products and enables the creation of products that are both lighter and stronger than traditionally manufactured products. 3D printing also enables the fabrication of a seamless product even when it is comprised of separate parts, reducing the need for assembling and welding and reducing maintenance costs of the product.
ORIX Rentec supports the product development of customers in the various advanced fields, including car manufacturing, aerospace, and medical devices, through our 3D printer rentals and services.
ORIX Rentec provides 3D printer modeling consignment services, installation support services and rental services to corporate clients. Modeling consignment services consist of creating metal or resin prototypes based on the 3D CAD data provided by the client. We also offer a subscription-based 3D printing service for model creation, where clients pay a fixed price based on the weight of the prototype. Installation support services consist of providing support to clients considering installation of 3D printers by providing them an engineer-supported experience with the modeling workflow at ORIX Rentec’s 3D printer facility Tokyo 3D Lab. Rental service assists customers with equipment selection and supports a low initial-cost introduction of 3D printers into client businesses.
ORIX Rentec also offers a wind tunnel experiment solutions service, which helps clients optimize the shape and structure of vehicles such as automobiles and rolling stock, leading to improved fuel efficiency and performance.
In addition, ORIX Rentec has launched a 3D-FABs service, which automates 3D printing simulation. Clients upload their 3D CAD data and select the conditions of the project, and the AI-enabled simulation tool automatically judges whether or not 3D printing is possible, offers advice in case printing is not possible, and creates price estimates. This service allows clients to quickly reach a conclusion about the feasibility of their projects, and contributes to both the realization of customer ideas and shortening of the development timeframe.

Rentals that support R&D at universities and companies

ORIX Rentec uses the know-how it has cultivated over many years in order to provide rental services that flexibly meet the budget plans of universities and companies conducting cutting-edge research and development. Rental fees are calculated by subtracting the residual value, which is based on the market value of the equipment at the end of the rental contract, from the asset price, so that customers can use the latest equipment at a reasonable price. Through these efforts, we are contributing to the improvement of Japan’s technological capabilities and industrial competitiveness.

Utilization of original packaging materials and logistics materials

In order to minimize the use of cushioning materials in the shipment of rental equipment, ORIX Rentec uses a proprietary kit called "M Cross" to secure its rental equipment. In addition, the packing boxes ORIX Rentec uses have a sturdy design and save materials, and have undergone durability tests such as JIS standard compliant drop tests to ensure they can be used multiple times.

Use of LED lights

ORIX Rentec's Tokyo Technology Center and Kobe Technical Center are changing all lighting to LED lights. The Tokyo Technology Center has a total floor area of 27,000 square meters and the Kobe Technical Center has a total floor area of 9,000 square meters. Both facilities are 5 stories high and use a large amount of lighting, and the switch to LEDs should save energy.
