Initiation of Joint Delivery Services for Facilities Operated in the Hakone Area

Jun 26, 2024

TOKYO, Japan – June 26, 2024 – Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide Inc. (“Seibu Prince Hotels”) and ORIX Hotel Management Corporation (“ORIX Hotel Management”) announced that they will begin collaborating on a joint delivery system from July 1, 2024. This system will deliver food from a common warehouse to the various facilities (hereinafter referred to as “hotels”) operated by the companies in the Hakone area. Seibu Prince Hotels began using a joint delivery system for its hotels in Tokyo in 2016 and has gradually expanded its implementation to the Hakone-Izu area, as well as western Japan. This is the first time they will collaborate on joint delivery with hotels operated by other companies.

About the Joint Delivery System
The joint delivery system involves suppliers delivering food to a designated warehouse instead of directly to each hotel. From this warehouse, only the necessary food items are consolidated and delivered to each hotel. Seibu Prince Hotels introduced this system to eight hotels in Tokyo in 2016, expanded to the Hakone-Izu area in 2022, and to western Japan, mainly the Kyoto-Shiga area in 2024. This system eliminates the need for individual deliveries to each hotel by suppliers and for individual handling by each hotel, thus improving operational efficiency for both parties. Additionally, reducing the number of delivery vehicles to hotels minimizes the need for truck drivers, addressing the "2024 Logistics Problem" of driver shortages, reducing CO2 emissions, and easing traffic congestion near hotels. The collaboration between the two companies in the Hakone area aims to address these social issues through joint efforts, strengthen regional cooperation, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the tourism industry.
