Industry’s First Event Planned and Operated by Students
MULTI-CULTURAL FESTIVAL in SUGINOI HOTEL

TOKYO, Japan - September 15, 2022 - ORIX Real Estate Corporation (“ORIX Real Estate”), Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (“APU”) and Suginoi Hotel And Resort Co., Ltd. announced that they will host the MULTI-CULTURAL FESTIVAL in SUGINOI HOTEL, the industry’s first^*1 event planned and operated by students, from November 25 to 27, 2022.

In December 2021, ORIX Real Estate and APU signed an Agreement on Friendly Exchange^*2 for the purpose of industry-academia collaboration and have been promoting efforts to revitalize regional communities centering around tourism while students learn from ORIX’s management knowledge and other expertise. As part of these efforts, students have taken the lead on furthering discussions with ORIX Group employees regarding the planning of new events at ORIX Group’s Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL since April 2022. As a result, an event has been realized that features international performances and activities with APU students to experience the diversity of the world, the first event of its kind in the industry to be planned and operated by students.
This event will be held at the hotel’s ACQUABEAT under the concept of “a festival of light and the world.” It will feature dance and music performances on the main stage, as well as street-food around the world. Guests will also have the opportunity to create lanterns from various countries and float them in the pool at night in a mystical activity.

ORIX and APU will continue to seek regional attractions for tourists from Japan and overseas and will contribute to the Japanese tourism industry through the nurturing of diverse students.

*3 In the Global Management (Capstone), people from companies and organizations are invited to class and students use the knowledge they have gained at university to conduct comprehensive research and analysis in order to ultimately propose business solutions. It is a required course for 4th year students in the College of International Management.
