Oct 05, 2021

TOKYO, Japan - October 5, 2021 - ORIX Rentec Corporation (“ORIX Rentec”) announced today that it will begin a rental service for a local 5G demonstration test package needed for building a local 5G environment.

The local 5G demonstration test package consists of a system necessary for using a local 5G network, including the Apresia AERO Series local 5G system made by APRESIA Systems, Ltd., as well as hardware necessary for building such systems, and is rented out. The minimum rental period is 3 months, at z monthly rental fee of 3 million yen.

Local 5G demonstration tests are being conducted in a wide variety of fields, such as automated control and operation monitoring using robots and sensors in factories and plants, remote control of construction machines at construction sites, and remote medicine in isolated areas and remote islands, and the demand for demonstration tests toward commercialization is expected to continue increasing in the future. The size of the service market in Japan utilizing local 5G networks has been growing at a rate of at least 70% a year, and is forecast to reach 35.2 billion yen in 2025*. Meanwhile, implementing demonstration tests requires a certain level of know-how, such as applying for a radio station license in accordance with the Radio Act and selecting instruments, as well as a large initial investment.
By packaging all instruments necessary for building a local 5G environment in the local 5G demonstration test package and renting it out for just the duration needed, as well as supporting the license application work, ORIX Rentec helps users not only to quickly begin using local 5G, but also to carry out an optimum and effective demonstration test with only a small initial investment.
Since establishing itself as Japan’s first electronic measuring instrument rental company in 1976, ORIX Rentec has been expanding its services with industrial instrument rental at its core and supporting utilization and popularization of technology. By leveraging expertise accumulated through the years to support local 5G introduction, ORIX Rentec seeks to contribute to the resolution of a variety of issues, by improving productivity, creating new industries, and eliminating labor shortages.
