Niji Kan was designed to encourage guests to enjoy a pleasant and active hot spring vacation, in the manner of their choosing. The building is located close to various shared hotel facilities, including the Tanayu open-air hot spring with magnificent views, the Aqua Garden open-air swimwear hot spring, and the AQUABEAT indoor pool. Guests can enjoy active stays—centered on the hotel’s hot springs and pool—in unique and comfortable guest rooms.

The video released today shows families and groups of friends staying at Niji Kan. These guests see the sights of Beppu City, eat at the hotel’s buffet-style restaurant, swim in its pool, and relax in its hot springs; afterwards, they chat while lounging in loft room day-beds, or family room communal spaces, and spend pleasant evenings in the manner of their choosing. The video is approximately two minutes in length, with the second half of the video detailing the hotel’s coronavirus initiatives, including hygiene management and avoiding the Three Cs.

1. About Niji Kan

Scheduled to open on July 1, Niji Kan is the first accommodation building to be completed as part of Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL’s large-scale renovation project, which commenced in 2019. It houses a total of 155 guest rooms, each decked out in colorful furniture and interior décor, prompting guests to enjoy a less formal style of vacation.

Niji Kan offers two styles of room that are the first of their kind at Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL: a loft room, in which a central staircase connects a second-floor bed space with relaxing day-beds on the first floor; and a family room featuring two bunk beds, the lower parts of which can be used for communal activities. In addition, twin rooms and double rooms are furnished with spacious 1,400 mm and 1,600 mm beds, allowing parents to sleep together in comfort with their children.

On the first floor of the building, luggage lockers have been installed so guests can use AQUABEAT or Tanayu before checking in or after checking out, while automated check-in machines enable contactless check-ins for added peace of mind during the coronavirus pandemic.

2. About Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL

Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL is located in Kankaiji Hot Spring, one of eight major hot spring areas known collectively as Beppu Hatto. Tanayu, an open-air bath with a superb view

The Tanayu open-air hot spring consists of a complex of tubs spread out in five tiers like terraced rice paddies. It offers expansive views of Beppu Bay and night scenes of Beppu City, and, on a clear day, guests can even see as far Sadamisaki Peninsula in Shikoku. Tanayu can also be used by guests on day trips.

The Aqua Garden open-air hot spring

The Aqua Garden is an open-air swimwear hot spring. Covering a massive 3,200 m2, the facility provides a range of hot spring-based entertainment that can be enjoyed by families and couples alike: illuminated, musical water fountain shows;Fango Therapy, a form of treatment in which guests pack their entire bodies with hot spring clay; and the Float Heating Bath, in which guests float in hot water with high concentrations of salt.

AQUABEAT indoor pool

AQUABEAT is a water park that adjoins Niji Kan. Open only during the summer season, this hugely popular facility typically entertains 350,000 or so people per year. AQUABEAT is home to a variety of attractions that can be enjoyed by people of all ages: AQUABEACH is an indoor wave pool; Water Slider and Super Roulette are water slides of differing lengths, shapes, and specifications; Kids Pool is ideal for small children to play in; while the Mystery Cave is a whirlpool where guests can explore caves.

World Dining Ceada Palace and Buffet Restaurant Seeds

Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL features two large-scale buffet-style restaurants: World Dining Ceada Palace, and Buffet Restaurant Seeds.

World Dining Ceada Palace is gorgeously decorated in the Napolitan style, and features a large aquarium at its center. In addition to its Western, Chinese, and Italian buffets, the restaurant is also popular for its à la carte Oita specialties, such as Seki horse mackerel and Bungo beef steak.

Buffet Restaurant Seeds is the largest restaurant in Beppu SUGINOI HOTEL. Diners can watch chefs dynamically prepare dishes in the open-plan kitchen, and enjoy extraordinary resort experiences in the adjoining Floating Island Seeds Terrace, which appears to float on water.

Guests staying at Niji Kan will usually dine at World Dining Ceada Palace.

3.Cleanliness Policy

ORIX Real Estate and ORIX Hotel Management Corporation have formulated and implemented an independent Cleanliness Policy (“‘With COVID-19’ Operation and Service Policies”) so that all guests can use the facilities safely and with peace of mind.

Examples of measures

(1) Appointment of staff in charge of promoting hygiene management
The staff member in charge of promoting hygiene management strives to establish a system that welcomes guests in perfect conditions, checking the state of compliance with these guidelines and the facility’s operation manual as well as seeking to ensure thorough awareness among employees.

(2) “Clean Stay” room stickers

“Clean Stay” room stickers are signs guaranteeing that, in addition to cleaning and disinfecting guest rooms based on the guidelines, areas that are frequently touched by guests have been wiped down carefully with special cleaning agents and the like. They are placed on doors after guest rooms have been cleaned to guarantee the room’s state of hygiene management.

(3) Introduction of system to avoid crowds
A system to avoid crowds has been introduced that allows guests to check the state of congestion at public baths and the guest lounge while in their rooms.
