Cross Office Shibuya opened in October 2009 as the first serviced office under the ORIX Cross Office business brand.
Following the first large-scale renovations at Cross Office Shibuya since it was opened, the coworking space on the eighth floor has expanded approximately 2.5-times in size from 106 m2 to 277 m2; the number of seats has risen from 30 to 80, while the furniture and interior decorations have been completely renewed. Now, seating layouts can be flexibly rearranged, enabling Cross Office Shibuya to be used for creating internal and external communities as well as for hosting all manner of events. In addition, in order to stimulate activity and inspiration, three works of art have been installed in the entrance, the welcome lounge, and the coworking space.
The artworks are the creations of fiber artist Mana Morimoto, who expresses space through the use of varicolored threads. Drawing inspiration from a “neon color” theme, the installations in the entrance and welcome lounge feature vibrant colors befitting Shibuya, which is an urban center for youth culture; their intersecting threads dynamically represent one of the core concepts of ORIXs Cross Office business brand: “a space where people, information, and business intersect.” The artwork in the coworking space has been informed by a map of the Shibuya area. Recommended spots and business information will be gathered from Cross Office Shibuya users, and then displayed on the map.
Going forward, ORIX will continue to cater to the diversifying needs of serviced offices, and provide spaces that lead to new business opportunities and the creation of new values.

1. About the Art Installations
・Entrance and Welcome Lounge
Artwork name: “spectra”
All three artworks were created by fiber artist Mana Morimoto. One of the symbols of Cross Office Shibuya is its entrance atrium; here, an artwork inspired by rainbow bands of light has been installed. The sunlight and fluorescent light that illuminates our world is, in fact, comprised of light of different wavelengths. Thread has been used to express the energy of Shibuya—a town in which diverse people intersect—diffusing through the Cross Office after passing through a large prism.

In the first-floor welcome lounge, a form has been woven into the front wall of the lounge’s entrance. Its colors shift from a warm-pink to gradually cooler hues. By mirroring the negative space formed between the threads of the artwork installed in the entrance atrium, the form’s trapezoid shape fashions a sense of continuity.

・Coworking Space
The artwork that covers an entire wall of the coworking space was inspired by the map of the Shibuya area. Recommended spots and business information will be gathered from Cross Office Shibuya users and displayed on the map. Since the artwork will evolve through user input, it will also function as a hub for communication between Cross Office Shibuya users.
