Construction Starts in Shichinohemachi, Aomori Prefecture on Mega-Solar Power Facility with Maximum Output of 19.6 MW

TOKYO, Japan - April 2, 2018- ORIX Corporation (“ORIX”) and SymEnergy Inc.*1 (“SymEnergy”) announced today that they have started construction of the Shichinohemachi Sotsukozawa Solar Power Generation Facility, a large-scale solar power generation facility in Shichinohemachi, Aomori Prefecture with a maximum power output of 19.6 MW (19,631.6 kW).

This power generation facility occupies a site approximately 48 ha in size in the Sotsukozawa district of Shichinohemachi, Aomori Prefecture. It is scheduled to enter operation in January 2020. Preparatory construction and other work began in December 2017, and now the full-scale construction work has started.
The business owner is the Aomori Shichinohe Mega-Solar Power Generation Facility, LLC, which ORIX and SymEnergy have invested in. In furthering this project, the owner will take steps to commission local firms for repair and maintenance-related work to create jobs and contribute to the local community.

ORIX is presently engaged in the development and operation of power generation facilities with a total output of approximately 990 MW*2. These are mega-solar projects using land with maximum output totaling 839 MW and rooftop solar power generation facilities with a maximum output totaling 154 MW. SymEnergy engages in the development of various renewable energy sources, including the development and operation of solar power generation facilities with a total output of approximately 60 MW*3. ORIX and SymEnergy will continue making advantageous opportunity of their respective know-how in the future to contribute to the widespread adoption of renewable energy.
