ORIX Supports Decarbonization of Mazda’s Supply Chain

Oct 30, 2026

TOKYO, Japan – October 30, 2026 – ORIX Corporation (“ORIX”) announced today that it will launch an initiative combining on-site PPAs*1 and virtual PPAs*2 for Mazda Motor Corporation and its suppliers.
This marks the first time ORIX has promoted the decarbonization of an automobile manufacturer’s entire supply chain, including Scope 3*3 emissions.

Mazda KD Center

ORIX will supply renewable energy through an on-site PPA to be implemented at Mazda KD Center, Mazda's logistics facility, to Mazda as well as Mazda Logistics Co., Ltd., which uses the same facility. In addition, ORIX will provide environmental value*4 to Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd., a Mazda supplier, through a virtual PPA that utilizes surplus electricity. The estimated power generation for the first year is approximately 2.6 GWh. Of this amount, approximately 77% is expected to be supplied within the facility, while environmental value equivalent to the remaining approximately 23% is expected to be provided to Toyo Kohan.
In addition, ORIX plans to launch on-site PPAs involving the rooftop installation of solar power generation systems at Mazda’s Miyoshi Plant as well as at the Hofu Shop of its supplier, KEYLEX CORPORATION.

The automotive industry faces the critical challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the entire supply chain, including not only automobile manufacturers but also suppliers, in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This initiative supports the decarbonization of the entire supply chain by providing renewable electricity and environmental value to both automobile manufacturers and suppliers.

ORIX is leveraging ORIX Group’s sales network to strengthen initiatives that connect renewable energy sources nationwide in Japan with customers seeking environmental value. ORIX will continue to advance initiatives for making renewable energy sources the main sources of power and expand its framework for supplying environmental value in renewable energy to customers, thereby contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society.

*1 An initiative in which ORIX leases the roofs of electricity consumers to install solar power generation systems and supplies the renewable electricity generated to those consumers
*2 An agreement that separates the generated electricity from its environmental value, providing only the environmental value to consumers
*3 Greenhouse gas emissions from other companies related to business activities such as raw material procurement and transportation, excluding direct emissions from the operator itself (Scope 1) and indirect emissions associated with the use of electricity and other resources (Scope 2)
*4 The environmental value inherent in electricity generated from renewable energy sources that does not emit carbon dioxide (CO2) during power generation
