■Comment from Kazuhiro Sasaki, Deputy Head of Real Estate Investment and Development Headquarters, ORIX Real Estate regarding receiving the iF DESIGN AWARD GOLD
Receiving this award is an international recognition of the concept of “a place to work” in urban areas that JAM BASE—for which ORIX Real Estate is a developer and has been involved since the conceptual stage—has sought while challenging change. This facility has spatial features that support innovation, with a design that gives birth to random encounters and an environment that brings together diverse players.
We will use this environment to support tenants so that their challenges are linked to co-creation, new businesses, and real-world implementation. Through this initiative, we will contribute to the further development of the Kansai economy by creating impact that opens up the future.

2. About JAM BASE

Inside the JAM BASE facility

JAM BASE, the innovation hub of GRAND GREEN OSAKA, helps in the real-world implementation and commercialization of new value by bringing together diverse people. Since opening in September 2024, more than 400 organizations and over 1,800 individuals (as of April 1, 2026), including startups and venture firms, large corporations, financial institutions and venture capital firms, government agencies, and universities, have participated, making it a place where diverse players go about their daily activities and give birth to co-creation.
As a hub that supports the creation of new businesses and the taking on of social issues, the facility uses Osaka’s Umeda location as an international city and its integrated environment with UMEKITA PARK to provide a place for startups and projects to move to the next stage. To co-create a better society of the future, JAM BASE aims to serve as a starting point for various projects, companies, and human resources to launch themselves onto the global stage.
At iF DESIGN AWARD 2026, in the category of corporate interiors under the discipline of interior architecture, the facility was highly evaluated for its architecture and spatial design that transforms high-density urban space into an innovation hub giving birth to random encounters and co-creation. In particular, JAM BASE was highly evaluated for not simply being an office and coworking space but also having its architecture itself function as a catalyst that fosters creativity and business creation. Guided by three principles—Midori (nature), Yohaku (unfinished-ness), and Gocha-Gocha (Osaka’s jumbled-ness)—it will continue to evolve together with people as a living collective where activities overlap and connections form organically.
