Transplanting of 70 coral seedlings in the sea near the Minatogawa area in Urasoe, Okinawa

TOKYO, Japan - November 5, 2021 - Pam, Inc. and ORIX Auto Corporation (“ORIX Auto”), announced today the outcome of a campaign conducted from July 1 to September 30, 2021 that contributed a part of car rental fees to the preservation of Okinawa’s coral reefs. On this occasion, monetary donations from the campaign enabled 70 coral seedlings to be transplanted.

During the campaign period, the companies jointly donated the equivalent of one percent of rental fees from the rental of hybrid car models available from ORIX Rent a Car in Okinawa that were booked through Tabirai Okinawa, the travel reservation website operated by Pam, Inc. On October 21, Okiden Kaihatsu Co., Inc. (Urasoe, Okinawa) transplanted the 70 coral seedlings sponsored by this donation.
The campaign, which marks its ninth year in 2021, has seen a total of 1,314 coral seedlings transplanted, with monetary donations reaching a total of 4,700,754 yen.

Pam, Inc. and ORIX Auto will continue to support coral transplantation and a variety of other social contribution activities that help reduce environmental impacts.

A donation ceremony was held on October 19, 2021.

<Okiden Kaihatsu Environmental Project>
Okiden Kaihatsu offers coral seedling cultivation experiences and environmental education on coral reef conservation in addition to coral cultivation and planting. Each year, the ORIX Miyauchi Foundation invites children from child welfare facilities in Okinawa Prefecture to the Okiden Kaihatsu Co., Inc. Aquaculture Research Center to participate in preparing coral seedlings for transplantation as part of its “SANGO ORIX” project.
