LIONS SMART BOX is a delivery box jointly developed with Fulltime System Co., Ltd. (“Fulltime System”). Using special IC cards, Fulltime System’s partner operators make deliveries directly to the entrances of residences. Residents can accept parcels at their own entrances without having to go to their condominium’s entrance. Three storage spaces in the box allow to handle different types of parcels, such as dry cleaning and food. The topmost section of the box, which can be unlocked even during a blackout, is a storage space exclusively for disaster reserves in preparation for evacuation at home.
As a passcode and special IC card are required to unlock the box, it can also address issues such as safe drops being stolen or getting wet from rain. Large items that cannot fit into the box, such as golf bags, can be accepted by the shared delivery boxes installed at condominium’s entrances. Fulltime System plans to continue to gradually expand partnerships with dry cleaning, food delivery, and other operators to further improve convenience for residents.

DAIKYO will continue to stay in touch with social issues and customer needs to provide new products and services.

1. Background of development
Nowadays, with the increase in delivery parcels, redeliveries occur due to shared delivery boxes being full and unable to accept new deliveries when residents are not at home. In addition, the use of safe drops—where users designate a location for parcels to be dropped—can result in issues such as parcels being stolen or getting wet in the rain. This exclusive delivery box for each residence, which allows parcels to be safely received, was developed to address such inconveniences and meet the needs of customers, who hope to also receive deliveries other than parcels, such as dry cleaning and food.

2. Overview of LIONS SMART BOX
LIONS SMART BOX was jointly developed by DAIKYO and Fulltime System. A process was designed for delivering parcels to the exclusive delivery boxes for residences by delivery operators—who have been screened beforehand by Fulltime System—using IC cards for building entry and delivery box operations. The box is installed next to the entrances of residences, and each box has three storage spaces that can be locked, allowing multiple parcels to be received without face-to-face interaction. Furthermore, the topmost section of the box has been designed as a storage space for disaster reserves in preparation for unexpected disasters. This allows it to be helpful even during evacuation at home, which is gaining attention in recent years.

  • Product name: LIONS SMART BOX
  • Commencement of service: March 2023 (planned)
  • Number of storage boxes: 4
  • Size: Height 160 cm, width 45 cm, depth 45 cm
    (allowable parcel size: 13–77.5 cm × 38 cm × 42 cm)
  • Planned introduction: Property at Katsushika-ku, Tokyo which started constructed in October 2021

Usage method
The exclusive delivery box for each residence allows parcels to be delivered only by operators who have entered partnership agreements with Fulltime System beforehand. Using special IC cards, delivery operators will put parcels into empty sections, then lock them. Residents will unlock the box using a passcode or special IC card to retrieve the parcels.
