ATOUN MODEL Y powered wear

The ATOUN MODEL Y powered wear is a wearable robot that alleviates burden to the waist when lifting objects from the floor to around the height of the waist and unloading them. Made of lightweight carbon resin, it is worn like a backpack, and attached to the waist and both legs using straps. The inclination of the body is detected through embedded angle sensors, and motors are used to pull and push the bar connecting the waist and both legs to assist the bending and stretching of the waist. When working in a half squatting posture, the bar automatically becomes fixed. This can alleviate burden on the waist arising from the loading and unloading of goods. It can operate for approximately four hours on a full charge and assist up to a maximum weight of 10kg.

RoboRen’s Six-Month Trial Rental Package starts at 61,600 yen per month, excluding consumption tax. To support clients in the smooth introduction of the robot, clients can use ORIX Rentec’s telephone support during the rental period. The addition of the ATOUN MODEL Y rental service increases the line-up of robots handled by RoboRen to 40 models from 19 manufacturers.

Amid the shortage of labor growing more severe in Japan, industries which require transport operations by people and other such tasks have increasing needs for improvements to the working environment utilizing the latest technologies. This is also the case in the airport industry, Kansai Airports made the decision to rent this product for the purpose of handling the growing cargo volume accompanying the expansion of travel demands. This is the first-time powered wear is being introduced at Kansai International Airport.

Going forward, ORIX Rentec intends to continue promoting the use of robots; by supporting automation in a wide range of industrial fields, the company intends to help resolve the shortage of personnel in Japan and increase productivity.
