ORIX Rentec Begins Rentals of the NVIDIA® DGX Station™, the Industry’s First Purpose-built Deep Learning Workstation

Apr 12, 2019

TOKYO, Japan – April 12, 2019 – ORIX Rentec Corporation (“ORIX Rentec”) announced that it will commence rentals of the NVIDIA® DGX Station™, a purpose-built deep learning workstation that is ideal for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) starting today. The NVIDIA® DGX Station™ is produced by NVIDIA Corporation (“NVIDIA”), a leading U.S. semiconductor manufacturer, and will be available to rent in Japan for the first time.

Each NVIDIA® DGX Station™ is equipped with four of the latest NVIDIA® Tesla® V100*1 GPUs*2. In addition to possessing super-computer performance, its compact and energy-saving design means that the workstation can be used for AI research and development even within office environments.

The products can be rented for as little as one month, with monthly rental priced at 1,260,000 yen (excluding consumption tax) per month, or yearly rental priced at 443,600 yen per month.

In recent years, GPU-based AI development has been advancing in a variety of fields, including the development of autonomous vehicle technologies and quality inspections in the manufacturing industry. However, it is not easy for research institutes to install expensive machinery for hypothesis testing and demonstration tests. Through its rental service, ORIX Rentec aims to help its customers procure machines when they need to, and for as long as they need to; the rental service is ideal for research and development projects whose machine implementation costs are tied to single-year budgets.

Going forward, ORIX Rentec will continue to provide environments in which customers can use the latest technologies with ease; in this way, the company intends to help resolve a wide range of issues, such as increasing productivity, catering to labor shortages, and enhancing international competitiveness.

*1The Tesla V100 features 5,120 CUDA cores.
*2GPU stands for Graphics Processing Unit, and refers to NVIDIA processors used for high-level graphics processing.
