The AINO-OLG Cross Age Project is Launched as a Collaborative Initiative that Integrates a Private Nursing Home for Senior Citizens with an Academic Institution, Aino University

Sep 11, 2018

Tokyo, Japan – September 11, 2018 – ORIX Living Corporation (“ORIX Living”) and Educational Foundation Aino University, which entered into a business partnership on April 1, 2018, announced that they will jointly launch the AINO-OLG* CROSS AGE PROJECT.

A meeting held to advance the launch of the project

The project combines the nursing care know-how of ORIX Living, which has experience in operating a private nursing home, with the expertise of Aino University, which has conducted a great deal of research into dementia prevention, in a cross-generational project (Cross-Age) that aims to encourage seniors to live healthy lifestyles in old age. As part of the project, the Good Time Club—an activity program for residents of the Good Time Living Korigaoka private nursing home, which is located in Osaka Prefecture’s Hirakata City and is operated by ORIX Living—will carry out activity programs proposed by students from Aino University’s Department of Occupational Therapy. Regular study meetings are also scheduled to be held.

It is hoped that the interaction between nursing home residents and young people who have expert knowledge in healthcare will benefit both themselves: for residents, the project is intended to encourage the establishment of a new foundation for residential lifestyle through new residential activities; for participating students, the experience of actually creating and implementing programs and of coming into contact with seniors will provide them with opportunities for learning and for verifying the effects of their programs. By facing up to and resolving various problems, we will accumulate fresh knowledge and seek to apply it in nursing care and educational scenes.

Going forward, ORIX Living and Aino University intend to do their utmost to realize joint regional development in the field of “smart aging” for seniors.

*AINO-OLG refers to Aino University and ORIX Living.
