ORIX to Begin Free Rental Service of Logistic Robots, Targeting Logistics Facilities Developed In-House

TOKYO, Japan – May 16, 2018 – ORIX Corporation (“ORIX”) and ORIX Rentec Corporation (“ORIX Rentec”), announced the start of a new service for the company, providing free logistic robot rentals for six months. This free logistic robot rental service initiative by logistics facility developers is a first1 in the logistics industry.

This initiative includes the ability to select seven models from six manufacturers, comprised mostly of automatic transport robots that assist logistics operations, according to application and use. Moreover, ORIX and ORIX Rentec will also offer packages with detailed information on robot use and an efficiency simulation after their introduction, as a way to effectively utilize tenant space.

Presently in the logistics industry, a large number of logistics facilities are being developed alongside the development of e-commerce and so on, and securing talent has become a difficult problem. Additionally, there is a need to improve efficiency through the utilization of robots in order to reduce burdens placed on workers and improve productivity. However, when it comes to introducing robots to logistics facilities, there are complex issues like identifying initial investment size and investment returns concerting system construction and so on, and in light of this proactive robot utilization has not progressed.

ORIX and ORIX Rentec will continue striving to develop services that make full use of ORIX group’s comprehensive capabilities, and contribute to the realization of an efficient workplace environment created by people and robots working together.
