Construction Starts on a Mega-Solar Project With a Maximum Output of 11.7 MW in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture
― ORIX and Kyudenko Jointly Promote Solar Power Generation Business ―

TOKYO, Japan — September 4, 2013 — ORIX Corporation (TSE: 8591; NYSE: IX), a leading integrated financial services group, and Kyudenko Corporation today announced that they will construct a large-scale solar power plant (mega-solar) with a maximum output of 11.7 MW (11,720 kW) on leased land owned by Nippon Coke & Engineering Co., Ltd. in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

In November 2011, ORIX and Kyudenko agreed to promote business together as strategic partners with the aim of expanding both companies’ businesses in the Kyushu region. The two companies are jointly developing business in the environment and energy-related fields in particular. In the mega-solar power generation business, they are jointly developing* mega-solar projects at 10 locations, including this project. In one of the other projects, construction has started on an 8,218 kW mega-solar power plant using the former site of an airport in Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Looking ahead, ORIX and Kyudenko plan to work together to develop business in the environment and energy-related fields, and in doing so contribute to the spread of solar power and other sources of renewable energy.
