Jan 31, 2013

TOKYO, Japan-January 31, 2013- ORIX Auto, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, has announced today that it will open a rental location in Fukushima on February 1 as part of its ORIX Truck Rental business that provides a wide range of work vehicles to construction and civil engineering contractors. This new location will be the fourth ORIX Truck Rental location in the Tohoku area, and the second to open in Fukushima Prefecture following the location in Koriyama City.

Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, ORIX Auto aimed to support the early recovery of the region by expanding the range of vehicle types and number of vehicles offered in the Tohoku area, as well as by opening new rental locations. ORIX Auto has increased the number of rental vehicles from approx. 450 at the end of March 2011 to approx. 1,700 at present. Furthermore, in response to heightening truck rental needs as recovery activities become full-fledged in Fukushima Prefecture, ORIX Auto will open the Fukushima location to support disaster recovery efforts in addition to establishing a fleet of approx. 2,000 vehicles, one of the largest such fleets in the Tohoku area, by the end of March 2013.

The new Fukushima rental location will start business with approx. 100 vehicles. These will be mainly medium-sized dump trucks and trucks with elevated work platforms corresponding to the demand expected to be generated by recovery work in Fukushima Prefecture. Looking ahead, the Fukushima rental location will increase the number of vehicles according to customer needs, aiming for approx. 150 vehicles under management by the end of March 2013.

Going forward, ORIX Auto will continue to support the recovery activities being conducted in the Tohoku area devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake through its automobile leasing business, rental car business, truck rental business, and used-car sales business.
