Contract Testing Service Launched for Compact Storage Batteries

Sep 10, 2013

TOKYO, Japan - September 10, 2013 - ORIX Rentec Corporation, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, announced that from today it will begin offering a contract service for testing compact storage batteries in the storage battery testing area of the Kobe Testing Center, having introduced recharging and discharging testing facilities for this purpose. With the introduction of these facilities, the storage battery testing area will now be able to offer testing under contract for various batteries from small to large cells.

In addition to offering load, non-destructive, electrical property and durability testing related to solar panels under contract, the Kobe Testing Center established a storage battery charging and discharging area in September 2012, putting in place a structure to allow contract testing of large-capacity cells. By installing new test facilities for small cells in response to storage battery R&D in which technological innovation advances have included downsizing of batteries, the Kobe Testing Center has expanded into a comprehensive testing center handling major energy related equipment from solar panels to large and small capacity storage batteries.

Against the backdrop of the uptake of tablet terminals and the development of ever-smaller PCs, smartphones and other devices in recent times, research to enhance the performance of key devices such as storage batteries and development of new standards have advanced at a rapid pace. This has increased the need for all manufacturers to evaluate the durability and reliability of their storage batteries over many hours. In response to these needs, ORIX Rentec aims to improve the efficiency and functionality of customers' testing operations and reduce costs. In addition, ORIX Rentec will support the development of new technologies by providing R&D support services which take on all testing for all inspection items at once in a one stop contract service.

Going forward, ORIX Rentec will continue to provide high quality services by working to enhance its testing technologies and expand the facilities of its Kobe Testing Center to meet the diverse needs of its customers.
