ORIX Auto Begins Sales of "Branch on Wheels" Vehicles to Financial Institutions
- For use as temporary branch offices in the event of a natural disaster or for operating in remote areas-

Aug 17, 2011

TOKYO, Japan – August 17, 2011 – ORIX Auto, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, has announced today that it has designed and began sales of "branch on wheels" vehicles for financial institutions.

An ORIX Auto "branch on wheels" vehicle is a truck with a modified rear cargo area for use as financial institution branch office complete with a customer service counter, information terminals, air conditioning and other systems. A "branch on wheels" vehicle can be used to provide staffed bank counter services such as deposits and withdrawals, loan consultations and applications, and payment of public utility bills, among other services. In addition, ATMs, surveillance cameras and other equipment can be installed on board.

With all basic bank counter services provided using a single vehicle, the "branch on wheels" vehicle can serve not only as a temporary branch office in the event of a natural disaster, but can also be utilized to provide branch office services in areas with limited access to transportation.

The Great East Japan Earthquake has highlighted the importance of business continuity plans (BCPs) for financial institutions, given their extensive social significance and responsibilities. ORIX Auto believes that such "branch on wheels" vehicles will be useful to financial institutions from the standpoint of their BCPs. At the same time, ORIX Auto believes that such vehicles will assist with the recovery of disaster-stricken areas. For these reasons, ORIX Auto capitalized on its accumulated truck and special vehicle leasing know-how to design and sell these "branch on wheels" vehicles.

Usually, these types of special vehicles are time-consuming and costly to deploy because they must be individually built to order. However, ORIX Auto’s "branch on wheels" vehicles incorporate standard specifications for providing basic bank counter services, while allowing additional features to be installed at the request of customers. This allows financial institutions to reduce the time and cost needed to deploy such vehicles.

ORIX Auto will continue to satisfy customer needs by leveraging its strengths in developing a broad range of automobile-related businesses, while making every effort to provide services that assist with the recovery of disaster-stricken areas.
